Haven't been here in awhile... I've busy editing the LSD: Dream Emulator Wiki!
My theory thing I wrote a few months ago. Whatevs.:
Alright, so here's the thing - I personally do not think there's any sort of insane, convoluted story to this game. No rape, no abortion, no transsexualism (which, by the way, is a pretty shitty theory in my opinion).
The silly, cute little sound effects throw me off from there being anything serious. Sure, the game has its dark moments, but that's just part of its style. Does it necessarily mean Madotsuki was RAPED? No. It seems to me that most people overthink this game, or at least its meaning - it's SUPPOSED to be vague, it's SUPPOSED to be nonsensical. It's the kind of game where the first thing that comes into your mind you program into it. Doodle a five-armed little girl? Yeah, while you're drawing random three-dimensional figures to put in the background of the White Desert, just put that in while you're at it. If KIKIYAMA was actually trying to hint at any sort of story in the game, they probably would have made it a lot clearer. Or at least enough to make somewhat more supportable theories.
But hey, I guess part of the fun to Yume Nikki is trying to come up with a story to it. Maybe that was KIKIYAMA's plan all along? Make the game as bizarre and mysterious as possible and let fans come up with their own story. (Which actually isn't a bad idea, now that I think of it....)
Anyway, think what you want. But just remember, sometimes you have to take a step back from all the obessive nit-picking and take a look at the big picture again - even with it's scary, disturbing moments, Yume Nikki is still just a fun freeware game, and Madotsuki is still just a girl who explores her dreams.
Yep, I made that thing down there. Quite beautiful, isn't it?
